disruptED App Menu
Intro:
The product was an AR+VR experience a child can use through a mobile device. I designed the application’s UI experience, which includes:
Search Bar – when there are numerous selections, the child can use the search bar to find the book with ease
Notice Menu / News – updates the user on related releases or new updates regarding disruptED
Settings Menu – adjusts to the user’s setting preferences, (audio, language, brightness settings)
Parents Menu – includes Privacy Policy statement and the ability to purchase and set up your child’s profile
Book Summaries – a quick summary of the book before user interaction
AR+VR Tutorials – to help first time users on how to maneuver their AR+VR experience
Challenge:
The app should be used by parent and child— it needed to create an experience where the parent understood how their child would be engaging with this AR+VR experience. The interface must assure the parent had executive control of the account but simultaneously grant an easy, intuitive experience for the child.
Solution:
I designed aspects to the menu that informs the user on new updates and the ability to customize their preferences. The AR+VR tutorials give them more information about book interaction and would help first-time users understand how to use their device. The parents had their own passcode protected section with control of transactions, to stop their child from purchasing items. The parent section also includes Privacy Policy information and details that inform them about the app.
Research:
When we had created the first phase of the app, I had collaborated with students from General Assembly to user test the products on children and parents. The team would then interview them on their experiences with the app.
